I have a Kershaw 1032 Skiner I bought in the 1980s and have never used it. The edge is original but the brass has dulled in shean. How can I clean it to look new again without ruining the polished handle?? Thanks, Mark

i dont know for sure how it is here, but frankly, i would never remove a real patina. Or are you saying the brass has taken on a different, dirty look, and actually needs to be cleaned?

It is just aged patina, maybe I should leave it that way? I have cleaned a lot of brass in the Army but it allways goes back to the dull shine. The blade is like a mirror still. Mark

Wright's brass Polish is what I use on my cutlery (ammonia). Your knife is an Ikon. Good choice.

Any metal polish will do, such as Flitz, Simichrome, Brasso, Nev-R-Dull, etc. Brass polishes up very easily, and since the knife has never been used, it should be even simpler. Heavy scratches might need some sanding, otherwise. Assuming no such scratches, just a clean rag and some elbow grease will get it done.

Thank You, my wife got it for me it has looked so nice I was afraid to use it. I have a few more with the brass tarnished that could use cleaning. I have always oiled them over the years then wiped them off before putting them away. I will look for some. Now that I am retired and 63 years old I was thinking of adding to my collection and man there is a lot of knives out there now!! Mark

Mothers mag and aluminum polish. You can polish the blade and the brass. It's wonderful stuff. And you can use it as a stropping compound.
