Hi,

With what and how do you guys and gals clean a new knife (BM #162) for food prep. Not sure if these are shipped clean and some knives are imported.
Thanks

I just wiped mine off with a clean cloth and sliced up some veggies when I first got my 162. I do not think mine had any oil on it when I got it.

I would just wash it like any other kitchen knife, with a bit of water and dish soap. Don't dunk the whole thing in the sink, just wipe the blade with a soapy washcloth and rinse it under the tap. S30V is a stainless, so I wouldn't worry a whole lot about rust. But if you want to take the extra precaution of oiling it afterwards, just wipe a bit of olive oil on the blade.

Agree with fps knifer, dish soap and dry! Carbon steel, mineral oil, force a patina ...... Stainless dish soap and dry!

Thanks, and it's nice to know someone else has a BM #162. One day in a weak moment I bought one, first knife in many years. So no dishwasher (joking).
