cleaning advice

i picked up an old german shell puller off of ebay. i was hoping to get some info on the best cleaning processes for something like this. thanks for any info.

Looks like bad rust with pitting to me. And the nickel seems to have come off the bolsters. A major restoration?

Probably quite a few hours on buffing and polishing wheels. Or hours-n-hours of hand-sanding.

When you get it, post some better pics.
 
Seems like you could do electrolysis rust removal on this (just now, I am about to do it for the first time on a couple of old axe heads). Doesn't remove any original steel. Or the quicker way of sandpaper and wire wheels.
