Howdy folks,

I currently EDC a ZT0350OR and am finding with extensive use the scales are starting to blacken. I have scrubbed them with soap and water numerous times but they just don't brighten up. I was wondering if anybody had any tips or tricks or products to use to bring them back to their original luster.

Thanks in advance!

Hmmmm.... I would think soap and water would work. It's strange that it didn't work.

Are they still dark from hand oils, or are they just not as shiny? As in, no sheen to the surface?

You could always polish them up with some very fine sandpaper or emery cloth.

I use Mr Clean, Magic Eraser. Works like a charm.

I bought a used zt0350OR that came to me with hand oil dark patches on the scales. I washed it with soap and water and it looked like new again. The knife now resides in my BOB, so I can't comment on the re-accumulation of oils, but it seems odd to me that it won't clean up with soap and water.

I just use soap and water with a tooth brush. If that doesn't work I try WD40 then soap and water again.

Hand oils, dirt, saw dust, pocket lint, it rubs against my cellphone all day long (black)

Thanks for the recommendations! next time we hit the store I'm going to pick up some Magic Erasers!
