Cleaning corrosion on 110 bolsters?

I picked up a 110 that had been stored in the sheath which caused corrosion on the bolsters. There is a bit of light pitting as well.

What is the best way to clean it up? Is there a clear/lacquer finish on the newer ones?

I would use Brasso or a similar brass polish.

No, not that I know of.

Will that do anything for the pitting? Would I be better off with progressively finer sand paper? I've got up to 2000 grit wet-dry sand paper.

Sand paper works well, and will probably get the job done faster than polish. I would lube it with some lite oil. You could also use water.

I'd just clean it with some polish like brasso flitz or mothers mag and call it good.
Unless you're displaying or collecting, I think that's some interesting character.

For me, it would depend on what you were going to do with it.
If I was going to use it, a bit of metal polish to remove the fingerprints and tarnish.
Then let it darken up naturally as you use it.
Clean the inside of the sheath as well, or get a new one.
If a display piece, polish it and display.

The only downside is the $6.95 plus shipping plus 8-12 week wait.

I decided to take matters into my own hands. A mix of sandpaper (600, 1000, 1500, 2000) and Brasso. The patina was honest, but the pitting bothered me. I'll see how it ages, but I might go back through the steps to clean up the scratches that I left.
