cleaning knives - removing rust

What can I use on my knives to remove the rust? I have a couple carbon mora's and they seem to be rusting pretty good. I live in a VERY moist climate.

Aside from cleaning these I think I'm going to purchase some knives that are more rust resistant.

How would these folders hold up?

Spyderco Native
Coldsteel Lawman

Thanks,

Flitz metal polish is what I use. Works very well.

Of course, with Moras, I don't bother. Let 'em rust - if you use them, the edge will clean up fine and rust and patina give those massproduced blades a little character. Quite frankly, any metal polish you may buy to clean up the Moras will be more expensive than the Moras are. :p

Get the rust off of your knives by all means. Accidentally cutting yourself with a rusty knife could lead to a nasty case of lockjaw. Naval jelly will remove rust and leave a passivated surface.

Rust has nothing to do with it. The causative agent of tetanus (lockjaw) is Clostridium tetani, and it can survive on perfectly smooth and polished glass, if it's in its spore form. The rusty nail idea came about more from dirty conditions- rust in and of itself is irrelevant.

Another perfectly good old wives' tale down the tubes.
