Cleaning Leather Belts??

I have a belt sharpener aka "Sanding Belt Machine"..that I have been using for the last week and I was wondering if you ever need to clean the leather belt?? Any help will be appreciated!

Pumice-free Goop or Gojo (got my pumice-free Goop at the dollar store), a paper towel (or seven) and NO pressure that might stretch the belt ($21 down the drain ). When I ruined my first leather belt, it was with Armor-All wipes and excessive pressure (the wipes did no damage - it was all me), but I found pumice-free Goop cleaned my strops very thoroughly and quickly.
