Cleaning, Lubing, and Polishing Products?

I'm getting to the point where there are blades in my collection that just aren't getting the pocket time that they used to, but I still want to maintain them (and the rest) properly. Currently when they get dirty I just dab some acetone on a paper towel and wipe them down. My question is, what products do you use to clean, lube and, polish your blades (with scotch-bright finish)? I'm not sure if the steel matters, but I'd be using them on VG-1 and AUS8. Thanks!

I use flitz metal polish then put a light coat of tuf glide on em let em dry then put em away shouldnt have to oil the stainless steel ones but i do it anyway my kitchen knives i just put little mineral oil on em never hade any rust problems .

I don't like to use acetone unless the gunk on the blade requires this strong chemical cleaner to be removed. If you have a scotch brite finish why not use scotch brite to clean followed by alcohol to sterilize. Most stainless blades should be OK without oil if not in a harsh environment. A small amount of mineral oil on the blade will never hurt. This method should keep it safe for food contact. Mineral oil for lube is recommended by many. You can go into the synthetic lubes. I like Tri-flow, Militec-1, and Remington Rem oil. Polishing depends on the knife finish and not having a high polished mirror finish, you can use any number of wet dry sandpapers on the market. Watch the grit that its not too coarse for the finish on your blade. These are my opinions as we all have one. Good luck.
