Hi all. Many thanks for any views or suggestions in advance.

I have been using G96 gun oil and compressed air to clean my microtech combat troodon. Many sites, including microtech itself, seem to suggest using REM oil. Is there any genuine difference between the two?

Do any of you use anything else?

Thanks!

I use Nano Oil because I have the stuff, I want to use REM oil like Microtech recommend, but the stuff is near impossible to find in Bulgaria. I use a q-tip to apply minimal amounts where there's visible signs of friction, less is more as they say. You don't want any viscous lubricants in there, or something that can attract lint. So far I'm pretty happy with 10W Nano Oil in the rest of my collection in that regard.

1. WD-40 to flush out dirt, if needed, this is not allways nessesary unless the otf is very dirty. I usually get away with just step # 2. WD-40 is not a good lube, more 4 cleaning.

2. ONE, maybe two very small ones, sprays of ballistol down the exit hole. Then fire ~10 times. Fire 5-10 times more and wipe of excess oil each fire. Done.

Ballistol is a very thin oil and is well known for not gunking up very much if any at all. There is an example on their web site of someone spraying down fire arms from WW1 or WW2(cant remember) and locking them down. When they opened the cases several decades after, the oil was still in perfect condition.

I use it on all folders, unless I take them apart. If I do that I spend some CRK on them.
