Cleaning my Caly 3

Normally all of my knifes are either hard users or sit in my underwear drawer. Bought the Caly 3 to carry at work. Really impressed with it. My problem is that I live near the beach and almost all of my clothes have fine particles of sand in the pockets. Already can hear the Caly grind as I open it. In the past I have cleaned my knives by running them underwater then putting some oil on them. Is there some other technique I should use with this knife?

The advantage of screws is in repairs or modifications. Cleaning out a knife is not that complicated even if it doesn't come apart.

I think most people here would recommend warm water, soap, and a brush. Maybe a toothpick. Thats all there is to it.

1 Use running hot tapwater and plenty of dishwasher at first make sure you rinse of all the soap. the hotter the water the less will stay in the knive as you leave it open to let it dry by air.
2 whipe a 1 layer tissue through the inner part and blade so it is complety dry
3 use militec 1 or tuff glide a few drops to protect and lubricate
(if you have buddies at the shooting range try to get ""the old!!"" 3 flow lubcricant and not the now available stuff in cans of approx 10 dollars. The stuff they used to repair ball bairings before they made these in cealed units. even better as militec .
I live in europe so i have to be patiented for my caly3 pe to arrive!!!
take care

I've used Rem Oil for many things, including knives in the past. The problem with Rem Oil is that it will attract and hold dirt. I've begun using Miltech on my guns and on my knives. It impregnates itself into the surface of the steel and becomes a dry lubricant.

I think all the normal gun oil types attract too much dirt Especially when applied in excess. I agree Militec works the best. Tuff glide is good .

The best result i get from the old fashioned three flow stuff i got from my co-worker mecanic who has friends at a shooting club The stuff used to sell approx 40 dollars half a liter!!!
works great leaves a dry finish on the knives i think kind of teflon

Take care
