I was just wondering how often I should clean my super commander. I don't use it for anything, I carry it on me all the time in case the need to use it should arise. In my pocket it gets what looks like a film of dust inside the liner and I think I should clean it since its been about 6 months that I've had it. Do you guys recommend that I take the knife apart for cleaning?

Dewd--- Just use common sense. Wipe the dust off and keep the lock clean. Field strip your knife Only when necessary, like if the knife gets really wet.

I bought my Super Commander used, and that was the only time I have opened it up fully. I didn't know what he had done to it, so I opened it, cleaned it, re oiled it, and put it back together. Now it's simple water, soap and compressed air, or a sticky note folded over and dipped in a little bit of water to wipe the insides out. Emerson's are built to be used, and you don't have to worry about a little bit of dust unless it starts acting on your pivot.
