The Buck 110 I bought at a sale was the last one -- the display model. The bolsters are covered with what looks like smudged black fingerprints. What do you folks recommend for cleaning and polishing? Can I use readily found household stuff?

Just try some gentle metal polish.

I use Flitz metal polish that can be found in plenty of gun stores. Cleans them up like new.

Mother's Mag Wheel polish works great and has no abrasives in it. It also leaves a protective film. A knifemaker recommended it to me.

Another very good one for general purpose cleaing is "Metal-Glo" by United Cutlery...

Toothpaste!
You'll be surprised how well it works.
Plus, your knife will have a fresh minty smell!
