Cleaning Scotch brite belts

Mine are all pretty old. On my fine one, I dipped it in paint thinner once, as it seemed to be getting loaded up. I kept the joint out of it.

It looked cleaner when it dried but it didn't do any better of a job. I don't do anything to them now, and the fine one still looks as loaded up as ever.

I suppose a less toxic way would be a pressure washer, just make sure you protect the joint.

I would say only do those things if you want cleaner appearing belts. I never cleaned the medium or coarse and have never had a problem with them. I just hang them up in another room from the grinders when not in use as they can really hold 40-60 grit abrasive particles that might fly in their direction and give you an unwanted surprise when least expected.

I am the dish washer at my place..lol

Good adbise on storing it in another room ythough never thought of cross grit contamination.
