Cleaning Suggestions? What type of oil?

I've been using Militec-1 for all my knives but it seems to discolor the ATS-34 blade on my Benchmade but not on my other Spydercos. What are the type of oils or "conditioners" that you use on your knives? BreakFree CLP? Mobil 1?

And for cleaning when I get stuck on adhesives and other tough things stuck to the blade I clean it under the faucet with a dishwashing pad and liquid soap. But it does scuff up the blade. Personally I really don't care what my EDC knives look like but on my more expensive knives....I'd like to keep them looking nice. What works for you?

Many people do not realize that there are small particles of aluminum oxide abrasive in the dish scrubbers.

For oiling my knives, I use Sentry Solutions' Tuf-Glide, followed up with my Marine Tuf-Cloth for extra protection from rust and corrosion.

And for cleaning, I just use Flitz metal polish and a soft cotton cloth. If my knife is really dirty, I just use some warm soapy water and a rag to clean followed with the Tuf-Glide for lubrication/protection.

I use gun oil on my delica and knives without a liner,ie : Delica, Bucklite I and II.
On the others I use Tetra Lube.
To clean I use finger nail polish remover, either acetone or ketone based. Both work for me. I cleaned my knives this way when I switched to Tetra.

TUF GLIDE and for the sticky stuff I use medical tape remover pads, they come in little packs like alcohol pads.

For cleaning tape residue and other sticky suff off my blades I use Goo Gone http://www.magicamerican.com/googone.shtml It's available everywhere here, and it cleans even better than acetone, without "drying out" the blade. Other than that, I use Tuf Cloth and Tuf Glide religiously. Never had a knife rust or even spot or discolor since I started using Tuf Cloth.

I use plain old WD-40. A quick blast into hard to reach areas to wash out any dirt and a paper towel to wipe off any sticky glue from the blade. Then lubricate with your favorite oil.

Breakfree CLP works well for me. And plain ol' alcohol preps/wipes work well for removing sticky tape residue.

I have a good choice of cleaning/maintanence stuff:

dental picks(the 2 end things)
leather chamois
LSA 0-158 (Mil spec version of Breakfree CLP)
Hoppes #9 weapon's lube
mineral oil(food grade)
Militec-1 conditioner
Zippo fluid
keychain LED light(blue)[for checking wire edge, both sharpening and maintanence]

and compresed air.

I've been using Militec-1 since december, and love it. Combined with compressed air and a zippo fluid to the pivot(to heat it up and clean it out), it's like glass.

Clear out the pivot and spine with the picks, zippo the pivot and work it in to clean some stuff, zippo again and light it, then militec-1 on a warm pivot.

I prefer an old toothbrush, hot tap water, and a thorough scrubbing with dish soap :) this will usually get rid of any old oil or grime in the pivot and lock area, and seems to give the scales a nice "out of box" feel. After that I usually fling off any excess water (watch out for bystanders) and let em air dry, I use a hair dryer if I'm in a hurry for some reason. After that Its an application of ballistol (I usually treat with militec when I first get the knife, then only use it once every month or so). I dont use polish like flitz anymore unless theres some notable tarnish or odd residue that regular cleaning wont remove.
