Cleaning suggestions?

I have recently purchased a number of older Buck 110s. Some are tarnished, have old fingerprints on the bolsters, and are pitted, and I really would like to get them cleaned up to preserve their value. What products are best for cleaning these knives? Once they are cleaned, how should they be stored to prevent further deterioration?

I like to start by getting as much of the old goo out from inside the case. An arosol cleaner, or WD-40, works great for this. I spary it liberally, and blow it out with compressed air. Opening up the blade half way will expose the sides of the rocker which should be wiped clean also. Make sure you clean out the lock area on the end of the blade, it can get filled up with "stuff" and should be kept cleaned out. After the knife is dirt free, oil the pivot point of the blade and the rocker.
Find a good metal polish like flitz or semi chrome or mothers for the brass. If there arent any scratches, the brass should polish up very nice.
I hope this helps,
