Cleaning under handle of fixed blades

Does anyone take off the handle slabs on knives with torx screws ect to wipe the tang over with oil? Is this needed on stainless blades that see regular use?
Thanks!

Under the scales of fixed and folders is about the only place I purposely use corrosion inhibitors. Moisture and corrosive substances get trapped there and do their damage. Stainless tangs and liners help, but they're not immune.

I usually soak the blade in CLP when I first get it (scales off). Then I wipe it down and put a coat of grease under the scales since it won’t run off like oil. I then reattach the scales. I only clean under them after that if it’s seen some heavy water and it’s been good for me.
