Cleaning up an old Benchmade 975

I have recently purchased a used Benchmade/Emerson collaboration. It is not supposed to arive until Monday. The pictures show some surface rust and the G10 scales look smooth like they have been worn down over time. I would like to to remove the rust without changing the finish of the blade. Any advice? Also I may want to replace the factory scales and backspacer. I have done some looking for scales already with no luck at all. Any idea who could make some? I will post pictures when it arrives Monday.

The knife cleaned up better than I thought with some rem oil. There are still some spots with surface rust. I am having trouble getting pictures to upload. If I can figure it out I will post them.
