Cleaning up marks on a hard chrome blade? Trade advice

I have the opportunity to trade one of my CQC-7's for another. Mine is a B, black serrated with wave. His is an A, hard chrome, plain edge, no wave, it's one of the Action Concepts run. I have another 7 nearly identical to the one I'd be trading.

His is a user, and it's got a lot of markings to the blade finish. The edge is a little beat up, but he's offering to pay for a trip to Emerson to get a new factory edge, so that's not the concern.

Can the hard chrome finish be cleaned up? I also have a CQC-14 with some marks, but not nearly this much, so the info would be helpful for that, too.

Would you make that trade?

I'm not positive, but I don't think that the chrome could be cleaned up to much. I think it's kind of like the BT coating in that once it gone, you can't put it back on. As far as a trade goes, there's a couple of things to consider. Are you going to use the knife? Are do you just want it because it's an Action Concept edition? How limited was the run? Is he offering to sell or trade only? If you hardly use the knife you are going to trade and won't be afraid to use the one you're going to receive, then trade. Really only you can decide if it's worth it to you to trade or not. I hope this helps.

I just did a little research. Is the knife a 2008? If so, It is not a hard chrome plated blade. Emerson stopped doing the hard chrome is 2002 or 2003 ( I could be wrong). I thought the picture looked kind of weird for a hard chrome blade to have those black marks being that I have used a hard chrome Commander for little while. Your knife looks more like how my well used CQC-8 did with the silver cerakote did after a years worth of use. There's no cleaning it up, it's like scratched paint.

I'll admit I'm a novice at this point. I read hard chrome was used, and I knew this wasn't just plain steel. So it's Cerakote?

My collection is these 5. The one I'd be trading is the one in the middle. I thought it might be interesting to have a 7-A and an Emerson without the wave.

Sorry but that cannot be cleaned up since it's a coating like our black knives. Either way, it's a nice knife and the markings just show that it's a hard user.
