How should I clean my diamond Wicked Edge stones and leather strops?

Thanks for any help.

I clean my WE stones with Bar Keeper's Friend and a stiff tooth brush. Bar Keeper's Friend uses Oxalic acid as a cleaning agent and works very well. I didn't want to use Comet with bleach as I am concerned about rust.

As for the strops I can't help you. I haven't gotten into stropping yet.

Thanks for the help guy's. Just cleaned the stones and strops with iso alcohol it worked well.

One other question: Are these strops to cut up?

You may be able to sand them down but they look pretty trashed to me.
I would get a new set and be careful of them.

They're probably still usable... strops can get pretty trashed and still work... at least to deburr and/or clean up an edge... not so much if going for the ultimate polish.

You might consider stropping in sections... so you do more of an 'up' or vertical stroke than an 'away' or horizontal stroke... this should stop the strop cutting... especially if it's happening toward the belly/tip area.

They'll still work just fine...i have a set worse than that i messed up in the beginning..they still work just fine. I use em for manual stropping for edge maintenance.
