Cleaning you knife

According to the care instructions on the BM Mini Grip, it should be cleaned by submerging in warm soapy water then rinsed and dried by compressed air. Anyone doing this? If not, what method of cleaning do you use? Also, other than they pivot point where else do you lubricate?

I use a similar method as described above for cleaning my knives when really dirty. I'll add that after 20 minutes or so in the soapy water, I'll scrub the knife with a pipe cleaner to clear out any residue left. As for compressed air, I use the canned air used for cleaning computers: for drying purposes, I use a hair dryer set to the low setting. Once dry, I lube the pivot washers with a couple of drops of Tuf-Glide. For most knives that's plenty.

You probably only need to do that when the knife is extremely dirty or gunked up. Maybe after dressing out a deer etc.
Under normal EDC conditions that seems to be overkill.
Make absolutely sure it is dry. The omega springs are compromised if they start to oxidize.

Yep agreed Billy. Normal pocket lint comes loose with canned air under EDC conditions. That's all or less than needed. Another thought is: When the knife is used for food prep, and there's a need to lube the mechanism, I will use mineral oil instead of Tuf-Glide, or alternative lubes. Most of the time, I simply rinse the blade with soapy water and then make sure it's dry.

What do you think about the use of Ballistol on the knife? It does a great job on my handguns.

Ballistol seems to work great as an all-purpose cleaner AND lube (for guns) AND anti corrosion for guns and knives. It also works on a number of other surfaces including leather, metal, wood and plastic according to their can. Smell: black licorice meets mild gaggy. It's non-toxic, which I like. It's worked well for me for the 4 years I've been using it.

After a few weeks of EDC, I simply rinse the knife in the sink under the faucet and dry it off with a can of compressed air/microfiber towel.. After the knife is dry, I apply some BKC Blue Lube Cleanser to a Q-tip and wipe down the blade.. I let that dry and give it a final wipe down with the microfiber towel.

Last step, one or two drops of Blue Lube in the pivot and I'm done.. Basically a 15-20 min process ;)
