I was just wondering how often you guys break down your sebenzas? you try to keep a routine or is it just when it starts to stick a bit or feel a little slower?
Just wanting some opinion.

Once just after I bought it as it was sticky. Then I put it back together with LocTite and haven't disassembled it since. I just rinse it with hot soapy water after food prep, and lube the pivot with a tiny bit of BreakFree. Opens slick and smooth as my ancient Zippo.

Yes, only when it feels sluggish or if it's bought used. Basically, only when I feel like one needs to be cleaned.

When I first receive any used or new CRK, I clean and lube them every time. Then whenever it feels like it needs cleaning or I know it's been a while since I've cleaned and lubed them, they get my spa treatment. I've got eight CRK's so far; my Umnumzaan and small 21 Micarta serrated get the most clean/lube time as they are my most EDC'd, mainly for work.

I try to take mine down after every sharpening. I usually just run the knife on a strop after normal use. Maybe sharpen once every three months or so and usually just a few strokes on the Sharpmaker get it sharp again. I think a trip on the Sharpmaker, some fresh grease, and cleaning out all the pocket lint is good for the knife...and I just find it soothing.

Just about the same for me. Sometimes it is just fun to take them apart and fidget with them. Always amazed on how precise they are built.

I use my large Insingo daily which includes things like cutting open chicken packaging as part of dinner prep. That means it gets rinsed off in the sink pretty often to clean off food, tape, dirt, etc. If it starts to get rough even after a quick rinse and dry then I'll tear it down for a cleaning and CRK lube. That typically happens only about 3-4x per year.

I also find it therapeutic to take down my CRK knives with the right tolerances and all. I carry mine every day and usually break it down to clean probably once a month. I keep the lock side screws loc-tited and the front with none, so it's easy to do it anywhere even in the car. I don't like seeing pocket lint near the pivot, and believe it or not even once a month shows how dirty the pivot and washers can get.

I used to break mine down about once a month. I'm less obsessive about things like that now. The last time I disassembled one was over six months ago. The action had just gotten gritty. The short answer is only when it needs it. I recently sold a couple of handguns. I owned them for nearly twenty years. My regular dealer appraised them for exactly what I wanted. He made several comments about how clean they were. His word was "thorough". I think that's a great compliment. As already said, any equipment you rely on needs regular maintenance. I usually just run a Q-Tip over the tang and stop pin each night. I've also made a habit of checking all the screws. I'm sure most of us have experience with "that one, single screw" that just won't stay in place. I only use Loc-Tite on screws that work themselves loose like that. I carry (and drive) and use my gear. It's not museum quality by any means. I take good care of my stuff. My Jeep says, "It's dirty cuz I drive it."

I detail stripped mine the day after it came, not because it needed it, but just because. That's been almost a year ago & it hasn't been apart since. An occasional drop of gun oil using a needle oiler and cleaning lint & grit out of it with a 1" paint brush has kept it operating just fine.

For one I am carrying often like a regular or 21, about once a year or until it feels gritty. Washing it in the sink with soap and water often will greatly expedite the tear down and cleaning as they will get that gritty feeling much sooner. With my 25, I bought it when they first came out which is several years now and I have yet to take it apart as it's just as smooth now as it was when I first purchased it. I also have sebenzas that I have bought new that I have never taken them down. Ones I buy used, I always take them down and clean them thoroughly making them " all mine".....!!!

Only breakdown my 21 Large when it is gritty. If not, soap and water will suffice right after usage expecially food prep. My 21 todate has only disassembled twice since last year. In a nutshell, only break it doen as and when required.
