Hello all,
I am currently working on a project to transform my Craftsman Camp Axe into something I can use for woodworking. I understand this is not the best tool for the job, but I am on a tight budget and buying something new is a little out of the question. Also, I am enjoying the learning experience
Anyway, I am having an issue trying to take off the clear coating on the head. It appears to be some kind of...plastic? I have tried sanding, and then scraping it off with a knife. However, this method has proved to be both laborious and ineffective. I am wondering if acetone might do the job, but I don't want to risk damaging the head. What do you guys think? Have any of you had success with chemical means?
