I have noticed that the Condor bushlore that I have has a clearcoat on it for obvious reasons with the 1070 steel used.
Got me thinking about other knives Ive stripped that are non-stainless-
Is there a clear coat out there that is available? I was thinking about putting it on underneath the scales or all over the blade ( minus the edge of course ) if I knew I'd be camping or outdoors in a wet environment.

I know that rust really wouldn't be such a tragedy even for a short trip in the jungle, but was just wondering what you guys thought.

Mods-I wasnt quite sure if this is the best place for this, sorry if it is not.

Thanks,
John

If you are talking about do-it-yourself, hardware and paint stores sell clearcoat, both in spray cans and brush-on. But the way I see it, if the blade is bare steel and it gets rust on it here or there, then you can simply sand those spots. But if you clearcoat or paint a blade, and the coating/paint gets scratched or dinged, and those spots rust, then you would have to sand the entire blade off, coating and all, and start all over. Unless you were content with a partially coated blade.
