Before of user. This is the sellers pic of the knife I bought. I am planning on modding the knife so I am expermenting with it. I kind of like the effect of the clear finish on the scales. It is darker than I would have liked but brings out the scales nicely. I think. What do you think?

Sure hope this works my first try adding pics on this forum. If things don't go as planned I will fix it tonight after work.

Followed the property link as well. Looks like fish scales almost. Tell us how it performs and more pics please.

Beautiful and looks a lot like wet black g10. Are the scales slippery, especially when wet?

I remember my HD had clear coat/enamel over the scales, didn't really make a difference on a small knife, but on a larger one, it kills the grip when wet I can imagine...

Sorry, meant to say Custom shop: Off Duty. It DID make the Snake Skin scales stand out really well though! Even better than the oil people use!

Looks cool, kind of like oiled tiger hide! But I agree with the others that said it also looks slippery when wet. Time will tell though, and Im sure its easily enough removed.

How would you remove that? Paint stripper?

Id be worried about paint stripper damaging the blade coating, as its going to go everywhere, not just the handle. Id suggest sanding it, although its in the scales so those would have to go as well. I think sanded slabs look pretty cool, and with the mags, (which is what I think they are ) the handle will be pretty comfy still.:D

Can't see anything, either on the thread, or through the pics posted...but I would love to. Please fix it if you can. Thanks.

I can see them with these links, hopefully everyone else can.

Thanks, LVC. Now I DEFINITELY need to know more about that. GentleBen and I had actually discussed something like this for his SS SHe. Tell us how you did it, and how it handles now that it's done, brother. Thanks.

That would loke DOPE on some SS or Tiger!

What did you do to get the pics to come up? I just tried the grip with water from the faucet and it seems to stick to my hand a little better. Finish is Deft clear wood finish. Probably not that hard to remove. I got this one to mod anyway so will be removing the scales and probably go with something with a nice wild grain and removable mounting screws. Anybody ever try bead blasting INFI? Got to learn to post pics.

Where's Ban? HEY BAN!!! Got any snake or tiger scales you can try this on? I'm dyin' to see it, but I ain't using one of MY babies. :D

test of Before pic

Anyway I think I might use a different finish on something I cared about but I would go with a water white finish.

from there you can either right click over the image and left click "copy image location", or you can right click and then left click "view image" wich will show you only the picture. when your viewing the image on it's own, the url in the url box of your internet browser should be the link below:
http://lh5.ggpht.com/redrocknv1/SFp46Xn99WI/AAAAAAAAAGo/H7QBPj8UCjg/P6190594.jpg?imgmax=800

from there you insert that url into the image code for bladeforums, wich would look like this (but without the asterisk)
