Gentlemen,
Can't seem to make the search function work this morning. Can any of you tell me in what years did Schrade Walden market it's products in the clear plastic tubes? I'd appreciate it.

I've wondered the same. Roughly, I think it was from the late 1960's until the early 1980's at least. They were shown in the 1982 catalog. Schrade called them a "View Pack".

Yup, no more search functions allowed for the likes of us non-paying-cheap-scapes,, bitch, moan!!.:(

I recon I have to pay for a membership again:p:)

There were also some Taylor mades sold in clear tubes, you have to read the fine print.

Getting into even finer print, they were Camillus (and Bear?) made knives using old stock Schrade tubes for SMKW under license from Taylor who owns the Schrade Walden trademark now. Clear as mud now?

Clear as mud. But if its the same ones I am of thinking of they are getting pretty big bucks sold as USA made Schrades on the secondary market theses days.

There are still some good ones to be found out there.

It was also used on some Sears knives at that time:
9470
9480
9507
9549
9560
These are the inserts I have in my archives. I am pretty sure there were more.

Talking of the plastic tubes, the bi-centennial commemorative knives Liberty Bell, Paul Revere, 1775 Minuteman, were also sold in plastic tubes although they were a tad bigger than the ones mentioned above.

Thank you all again. I have several of these, knives included, of course. My fav is a very large camping knife. Also those lovely yellow 881s.

Happy Holidays.
