Cleaver? Chopper? Massive Butcher Knife?

That is a Cooks knife. You know, for food prep.
Dicing, Mincing, Chopping, etc.
12 inches is about as long as they get, and that 3/16 tapers down to (I'm guessing) far less than 1/32 at the edge
 
as a kitchen chopper...very interesting...

3/16" is indeed thick for the kitchen, but warranted, I think, by the blade width. Would feel flimsy if less...
