I recently read up on Ohio's knife laws and found that it is legal to carry a knife up too 4". Since reading that I bought a full Sized Grip, Mini Dejavoo, a ParaMilitary, and a Native. Today I started reading up on local municipalities and it seems most cities around Cleveland only allow blades up too 2.5". Now I'm a bit concerned about what I EDC, and will be bummed if I have to sell or trade off these knives. I don't even own a knife with a 2.5"blade, all my knives would have to go!. Are there even any decent folders in the 2.5" balde size??. Anyways is there anyone familiar with Cleveland Ohio, and surrounding muniipalities knife laws?

TIA
Dave

The state law is one thing but cities often pass ordinances as to what type and length of knife can be carried. Most states allow concealed carry of up to 4" blades.
When a man was stabbed in a bar in a neighboring small city with a fixed blade knife the city passed an ordinance right away making the carry of any fixed blade knives illegal. Nevermind the fact that it was the first time anyone was ever stabbed in a bar, in the city with a fixed blade and the fact that people have been cut and stabbed with folders. The city saw a chance to prohibit a type knife and jumped. Doesn't make anybody a bit safer but it looks good on paper.

I grew up in a suburb of cleveland. When we were teens the police would stop us, steal our knives, booze, and then let us go. It seemed as if all knives were illegal, though I know better. Each city will have it's ordanances, Joe

If the World was flat, Cleveland would be at the bottom.
Cleveland, The only city in the world where the Fire Dept. had to put their River out....It was on Fire!

Where did you find the 4" information?

I ask, because under state law, the Ohio Revised Code, there is NO LENGTH restriction.

Municipalities may have laws, but in most all unincorporated areas, which fall under the ORC, there is no length restriction.
