Making last minute plans with a few friends for a hike this coming Saturday. Going to try out the Barker Valley Trail in the Palomar Ranger District. From what I read it's about 7 miles total out and back with 1,000' elevation change. Trail reports note the difficulty from easy terrain to moderate to strenuous to moderately strenuous...so who knows. Not like we're out to set any speed records. Getting to the trailhead means driving 8 miles on a poorly kept dirt road...low clearance vehicles beware.
Here's a brief description of the trail.

We'll meet at the trailhead around 9ish, eat lunch and chill at the half-way mark, then stroll back. Hopefully play with a few knives, take pics, and mess around with some new gear. If you're interested let me know.
