Is "etchant" known by a specific product name, and what is its INTENDED use?

I went into Radio Shack on the way home today. I asked if they had "etchant" and they looked at me like I had a scrotum growing out of my forhead. Of course, I can't describe it, because I have no idea what it is actually for (happens a lot with my little projects). I looked in the electronics aisle where they had some cleaners and stuff, and didn't see anything that fit the bill.

Help? My BK16 is too plain.

I thought it was called PCB Etchant, although I've never purchased any. It's for printed circuit boards, is my understanding.

EDIT: Here's a photo:

It's called PCB board etching, Radio shack sells it, usually over by the small parts area. It comes in a tall round plastic bottle. Most folks working there have no idea what it is.

If you have a smart phone, save this page and show them this.

Or just hunt around the store until you find bottles. It should be there somewhere.

+1. I went and bought a bottle and ended up looking for it myself after the manager asked me "do we sell that", after I showed him it on their website. I found my bottle near the solder and crimp connectors.

It's used to clean up excess solder off circuit boards....it dissolves solder on contact. It looks just like Dan's pic

Thanks. Didn't see anything like that, and I was in that area. Will hit a different store on tuesday. Gotta go find Perma Blue anyway.

Just go online to radio shack and see if the local store has it in stock. Most of those idiots the only electrical thing they know is how to plug their phone into the wall.
