Cliff....about the machete

Cliff, something's wrong with either your or my email. I keep getting my emails rejected with 'fatal errors.'

Anyway, here's the link to Martindale that you asked about:
http://www.ralphmartindale.co.uk/ralphmartindale/europe1.html

The first two blades that show up are the ones I have. The first is the Golok and the one under it is the # 4-01 Jungle blade. This is the one I'm totally impressed with.

I made a mistake in my email to you. The distal taper goes from 3/16" at the tang to less than 1/16" at the point.

Awesome machetes.

Will have a full review in an upcoming issue of Tactical Knives.

Jeff

I've been to that website, where can I get one and how much are they.

Distal tapering is supposed to reduce shock when you chop something hard. Don't know if you experience that with your machete.

It is probably my email, the server was down for hardware upgrades. Thanks for the link.

Well, well, I was starting to think that I was the only fan of Martindale machetes!
The folks from Birmingham, UK sent me a list of their distributers here in the US, sorry Cliff, I didn't ask about Canada. I'll go check my E-mail and post the addresses and phone numbers as a post script later.
Dan

Hi,

Just to say that the Golok that Jeff mentions is the standard Britisch Army machete and that that one is delivered with an canvas scabbard while the "Jungle blade" has no sheath available at the moment.

But after reading all your posts I recon that somebody will start building a kydex sheath anyhow for them soon

Hi Marion,

Can you get one? I mean the Golok and if so let me know how much they cost in the US.

I can get 4 of those Golok's but the stupid Britisch Royal mail won't transport potentionally dangerous items

so they have to be send by some courier company and that's costing for 4 of them as much as the price of those 4 Golok's.

They come with black canvas sheaths.

Cheers,

Bagheera

I checked today with both of the distributors on the list. Langeman told me they didn't carry them anymore and the other one, Bob Watson, told me that they only stock two or three of the traditional type Martindale machetes. Prices were in the 14 to 18 dollar range for the ones he carried.
I told him about this site and to come in and join the discussion. He may be able to order some individual models but generally he says he must order in case quantities.
