Clip on Gent's Folder - Moustache on a Lady?

I like clips on my large folders. I prefer tail clips, but that has been argued at length elsewhere. I'm looking to get a nice, fancy gent's folder[I have one in mind already], 3" blade, damascus blade, textured bolster, wood scales, and if I had my druthers I'd like a clip. But most of the clips out there are just plain ugly. I suppose it's possible to make an interesting wire clip in titanium or another material; A. Elishewitz does a nice job, for example. Does anyone else do that? Does anyone make or sell clips seperately to makers? Is a clip on a gent's folder like a moustache on a pretty woman?

I like the clip on my William Henry carbon fiber LANCET. I wear the knife like a fine fountain pen in my shirt pocket. William Henry=CLASS.

Well I have to agree with Will on this one! William Henry folders are awesome!!! The only problem is that they are as scarce as hens teeth right now! I am a very small time dealer, and in the past month I have tried about three times to order WH'S from my wholesaler and each time the same answer, "Sorry, but out of stock"!

Don't you hate it when that happens?

I'd never thought of that. By the way, I happen to find women with moustaches very attractive. It makes them seem more... mature. Yea, I don't want no wimpy girl! I want a woman that'll hit me back! Serisously though, you've got a point. Clips are a very "tactical" feature, but not so much so that they would prevent something from being extremely gentlemanly. Also, instead of using wire, you could have the clip decorated. If you did this, it could be done by the maker, or by a separate jeweler (I'd definitely find a good jeweler for this, though, not just one whose ads you've seen on TV).

Unless you carry a knife in your shirt pocket(something I'm not comfortable with, but to each his own), the clip on a gentleman's knife is as the moustache!

True. Since gent folders are pocket carried they should have full spacers so that they do not need to be carried in their pouch to keep lose change from dulling them.

The BM330 has enough of a spacer. Spydercos have full spacers. The Umfaan and WH series do not which impairs their use IMHO.

G-10 scales hold up well as does carbo fiber scales. Micarta does hold up well, scratches can be buffed out.

Smith Brother's roping supplies used to and maybe still sells custom engraved spydercos, with gold initials, etc. And they have engraved clips on them too. I thought they looked great. But a gentleman is something I've never been accused of being, and probably never will be

a moustache on a pretty woman

Isn't that an oximetrical moron?

I remember my first ex-wife.
She had mustaches.... THREE of 'em, in fact!
One on her upper lip
Another on her thigh....that was a mole really, but it had more hair than Cousin It's bikini line. There was also a putrid odor which I choose not to divulge.
And last, but least, she had a gigantical mustache on her posterior!

What I'm getting at is that beautiful women in gerneral don't have facial hair, at least not in MY Book of Ex-Wives.

Cringing at memories, I remain,

Well, so far the anti-clip gents seem to be in the majority. I posted a thread asking about one possible alternative: a sheath with a clip. I'll try to hyperlink, but don't yell at me if I blow it www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum32/HTML/002855.html
