clip on native is loose

i bought a native at walmart yesterday, have used it 1 day, and the clip is already loose. theres not enough tension on it to hold it onto my pocket, and the clip swivels from side to side now, it looks like something caught it, and a hunk of the plastic around where the clip is held onto the knife broke off.

should i just exchange this knife at walmart for anotherone?? assuming they didnt sell the only other one they had in stock

i love this knife but if its going to break this easy i dont know if i can keep it, i had a gerber 2 years that the clip still holds tight (though the blades another story)
 
I don't know if Spyderco is still makeing up knives under waranty with broken clip wells or not.Give them a call and check.
The clip well breaking is the thing I hate most about that type clip on FRN.
Spydercos W and R sent me a new Resque Jr that had done the same thing.
 
It sounds like the knife was clipped to your pocket, and then the clip caught on something like a table top or the door frame, and as you kept moving it pulled and sheared the plastic around the clip off. If you have an FRN handled Native, youc an try tightening the big screw holding the clip with two coins, one on each side. It usually helps. But if the "frame" around where the clip is screwed onto the handle got sheared off, I don't think it'll help a lot, just have to be more careful.

I've actually seen this on other brand knives as well, sometimes the clip got deformed to the point where I had to order a new one, or the screws got ripped out from the liner completely destroying the threads, so the clip could no longer be reattached. It happens. It falls into the same category as dropping the knife and having the tip of the blade break off. It's just an accident.

A Native is a great knife. It was my first Spyderco, and served me for years. Can it be damaged? Yes. Can other knives be damaged just as easily? Yeap. Clips do get scratched, chipped, bent or broken off, it happens a lot with everyday carry or at work.
 
yeah it seems a piece of the frame around the clip chipped off, i called the store i bought it at, they said just to come in and exchange it
