This pic from 1SKS shows the 720 having a clip with tip-down carry.

This pic from the Benchmade website shows the 720 having a tip-up carry clip. The same picture is in their catalog, and I don't see holes near the pivot pin for you to screw the clip into if you wanted to move it.

So, what's the deal?

Sorry...it appears that I was too specific when I did a search earlier. I tried again, and got more results, and several threads mention that the 720 is designed for tip-down carry, with an option for tip-up.

I guess I'll have to buy it then.

Wait a minute. I also read that the 720 lacked holes on the other side of the handles, unfortunately for lefties. But the second picture clearly shows the presence of holes...I'm confused.

No need to be confused. The first pic you posted (from WOW) shows an earlier model which had tip up/ down carry capability. At that time, at Benchmade forum, there were some agressive comments concerning why the option for left handed carry capability was not offered. This was valid since the 720 would otherwise be totally ambidextrious. Thumb stud and Axis lock. Your other pics do indeed show ambi carry capability. These are the current models being produced. I guess Benchmade responded in a positive manner by this change. But at the same time has eliminated the tip DOWN carry option. A MINUS in my opinion/ experience. I guess it was a business decision to cut costs... :(

I was glad to see this thread. I have the 720 sbt and 721s and it is close to a perfect carry knife for me. However it is tip up carry and I assumed they all were this way. Its the only thing I don't care for as I got used to tip down. Does anyone know if these tip down versions made it out the door for sale anywhere?

The 721 (and the 722) series were always a tip up carry piece. These G10 scaled model(s) came out a bit down the line after the aluminum handled 720 series. A shame BM phased out the tip UP carry option.

Thanks...I figured that would make the most sense.

Damn. I like tip-down better, and judging from the clip placement, not much of the knife would have been showing when clipped to something. Like my 750.

Well, I wanted an Axis lock.
