Clip or spear point?

Hey guys, can someone give me some input on what would be better? I have my eyes on a Cold Steel Code 4 for, primarily EDC, but would also be in my pocket as a last ditch self defense tool.
So for my usage is one blade better than the other for such a dual role?

Thanks for the input.

Why limit yourself to carrying only one knife? I typically carry 2 knives (sometimes 3 or 4 if I'm headed to the great outdoors) and a multitool, and each has a separate and distinct primary purpose. I say start thinking in terms of the "system" you want to carry, not the single "knife" you want to carry, and you'll be better served (IMHO, of course).

Btw, Welcome to the Forum!

The Code 4 Spear-point has a swedge grind that makes it look rather unique to my eyes.

Either one will work great for most everyday utility tasks though.

I bought the Code 4 Spear-point first and just got the Clipped-point recently.

I am not carrying them as EDC blades because of cold weather, but this will change once it warms up.

Well said! For the longest time I carried but one knife, then I decided that sometimes it would be better to use a slipjoint, so I started carrying one. Now I wear a fanny pack daily and in it you will find a Leatherman Juice 2, and a Spyderco Szabo. In my right front pocket I have a knife that I switch out every so often, today a Kizer Klecker design or a Boker Arctos XL.

I have both spear points and clip points and for your intended uses I don't see that one would matter over the other. My personal preference is a clip point.

Generally speaking for self defense I'd say clip point but in the case of the Code 4 I think the point technically isn't really a clip point. There's no sweep, just a swedge
