Why is it that the clip is not placed on the non cut-out side of the titanium slab?

If it were on the other side there wouldn't be that extra bit of tension pushing down on the lockbar making it harder to open.

The same goes for other framelocks too, not just the Sebenza.

Is there something fundamental I'm missing here?

I don't think you're missing anything fundamental. It seems to me it's on the correct side if you are a righty.

As for putting extra tension on the lock. I agree with that. In the FAQ it says the lockbar is not supposed to touch the side, but in reality almost all the sebbie clips do actually put additional pressure on the lock. I bent a couple of mine to take some of the pressure off.

After reading your post twice over I think I wasn't descriptive enough in my first post.

What I meant was for the clip to be on the same Ti slab as it is now but just on the non lockbar part of the slab. This way you wouldn't get the tension on the lockbar.

Same motion for drawing from the pocket and opening but the clip would just be in a slightly different position.

Not sure if thats clearer.

By, say, mounting the clip with the same screw used to hold the rear spacer in place, along the spine side of the knife.

There ya go!

All that mumbling summed up in one simple sentence.

Yes I do have a high school education. :)

with as many people questioning liner and frame locks ability to stay locked, why would one want LESS tension.I dont find the clip to be a distraction in opening, but an asset in keeping the lock bar in place.

I always thought it was done that way to add a bit more tension in the closed position and to also help in not "over-springing" the lock bar upon closing the knife. I actually bent a clip on a sebbie one time to induce more pressure on the lock bar! :D

Hey folks, I still LOVE them sebbies!!
