OldPueblo's clip point 124 is back in EBAY. Some things have been changed in the description. Note his comments in the earlier post:

"5. Despite the similarities that originally led him to believe Al was directly involved, the SOP at the time was for Al to bring the knives in to the guys in customer service and hand them off to whomever, and Leroy is no longer certain of Al's direct involvement in the reshaping of the knife."

with the current description:

" the work may even have been done by Al Buck himself (when comparing it to similar examples known to have been made by Al)."

Telechronos:):):)

He just used the modified description from the first listing that BG42 posted in the original thead. It just shows how someone who considers themselves a professional dealer can misrepresent the facts to over inflate their product. Both Leroy Remer and Joe Houser disputed that Al Buck would have actually done the work, the owner admitts he was mistaken in the thread, and he is still trying to connect the knife to Al Buck.

Old Pueblo is an interesting guy.

The whole auction is flawed and deceptive (not as bad as it once was, but still unacceptably disingenuous).

What's worse is that his whole premise is flawed.

A collectible knife that has been altered and is no longer stock is not worth more, it's worth less. It's a curio or a user, but most collectors are not interested (and they are the ones who pay the big money).

So, Old Pueb has taken a negative and is trying to make it into a positive with highly dubious claims that it's rare and the work was "maybe" done by a famous person.

Ho hum and yawn......he is embarrassing himself.

His "Title Line" (which is what drives the search) is so poorly written that if you put in "Buck 124 Knife," (which is the way most experienced e-Bayers will search it) you won't even get a hit on his auction.

That's costing him in that a lot of potential bidders will never see his auction.

While it's true that he may sell the knife for his unrealistic prices (if he finds an impulsive buyer with a lot of money) the real important thing is that he's probably just wasting money on fees and he would have done better to just put it on for a starting bid of .99 cents and let the market set the price. That works and you don't waste money on re-listing fees over and over.

This guy needs a lot of help and I really wish he would just come here and read and learn a few things about knives and selling.

I thought that his lengthy mea culpa that he posted in the previous thread was evidence that he was learning. I was wrong!!!

Yes, he gave a wonderful illustration that there is a huge, huge difference between "Mea Culpa" and making excuses while continuing a bad behavior.
