Clip Point, Drop Point, Clip Point BM?

I hope I have got my knife terms correct - it appears as if the Battle Mistress blade shape has evolved from a Clip Point from years ago, to a Drop Point in the E Series, to the new forthcoming Clip Point style blade. I would suspect the Clip Point would give better penetration and in my opinion has a more attractive look while the Drop Point would be a stronger and a better utility blade shape. But what was the real reason for the change from the Drop Point of the E series? Was it just time for a change?

well, the battle mistress (to my knowledge) did start its life out as a longer version of the original steel heart. so it went from drop to clip to drop and back to clip point again...

Do you mean the E-Series? The BM-E was more similar to a lengthened SH-E, but the original straight handled BM started with defined clip point blade from all of the pics and knives I have seen. I don't think any of the early steal hearts were called "clip" points. Just last night I looked through some pics of a steel heart stash and all looked to be well in the "drop" point classification.

With that in mind the progression would be more of clip point (straight handle) -> drop point (e-series) -> clip point (f-series)

well i have some info from a good source, the first battle mistress was the foabm (father of all battle mistresses) shown here

And I thought when I bought that ZTBM from you that I was buying a big knife and all the time you were holding out on me with the foabm. The BM will now forever be regarded as a "pip squeak".

Not a Mistress, but close :) That was one of the very few 10" A2 Steel Heart's Jerry posted last year or the year before...

Duh, stinkin vodka dinners.

That was one of the transition models, a BBSH1 with a 9.5" blade. One of 6 released. The SH2 was pulled back to 7.5".

But, this pup did help lead to the Mistress........

Here is a better comparison view.

True true......

The Steal Heart had several years on the market before te Mistress.

i was gonna go look for pics on badmojo, but thatmguy said was i meant.

for the record, i think the battle mistress was always a clip point at heart, it was just forced into another package by other models  (i prefer the clip)

seems that whenever the battle mistress was designed to be something on its own, rather then a longer version of another blade, it had a clip point.

It's actually an in-between. Pre-SHSH2, but has the 3 bolt handles. Only six out there, and this was the first to surface since they were sold all those years ago...

WOW, I've not seen an in-between. Does it have any of the SH1 features, or is it in-between in a time-wise way?

Hey young man, you just getin in from partying all night?? ;)

Just look at all those hyphens you're throwin around. You could put someobodys eye out.

Post again when you sober up!!! :p
