Clip point vs. drop point.

I've seen a lot of posts about various knives where it seems like the majority of people prefer drop points to clip points. Why is this? Does it effect cutting ability? Piercing ability? Is it just looks?

Well, it most likely goes back to hunting and skinning use.

Bob Loveless designed the dropped point to help prevent opening up the guts by accident and getting the digestion juices all over the meat.

It is supposed to be easier to keep control of the point on drop point versus clip points.
