Where can I find some replacement screws for the clip of my SS Endura 4? I lost one and the head is stripped on another.

You can buy clips + screws direct from Spyderco, so you may be able to get just the screws. You can zap them a communique from the website. Good luck.

Thanks, I'll have to check out the website from and actual computer. Have not been successful trying to find them from the phone.

You won't find screws or clips listed in the online catalog, even on an actual computer. You need to call Spyderco.

I find Spyderco's lack of customer service regarding replacement screws, well, disturbing.

Sure, you might get some clip screws.

But don't ask for body or pivot screws if you happen to strip them. The answer I got was not only "No" but "Hell No." Something about too many people trying to make fakes.

Really? Geez. I didn't even want them for free - I want to buy them (for a Domino, by the way.) Terribly, terribly disappointing. Has really soured my opinion of Spyderco.

Amazing that I can call Kershaw (KAI) or Benchmade and get just about any piece of hardware I need.

Continuing the Spyderco rant, I was told that since the Domino is produced in Taiwan that they don't have the hardware over here in the US. No offer to try to get some, just a curt "Go away, you potential counterfeiter!" I asked if they could tell me what the sizes were so I could order from someone else. I was told they don't keep a record. Are you freaking kidding me? Who runs a business like that?

Shame.

I agree 100%; it's a real turn-off to me as well. I think the idea that you cannot take the knife apart and service it shows a lack of understanding of the customer base. They need to do some objective market research on this issue.

It's beyond that. Don't care about the warranty thing if I take it apart. But jeezus would it kill em to support a customer who buys a $200 product? Who the flip are they kidding that the dammed screws would be the proprietary design element?

It's simply lazy and spiteful is what it is. A shameful example of how a major manufacturer should (or in this case "should NOT") behave

Just makes em assholes on my book.

Yes the customer service for extra parts is lacking. I bought a $140 PM2 that was missing one of the bronze washers right out of the box. So the action of the knife was loose and rough. I emailed Spyderco and was told "we do not ship washers or screws." I asked for the correct size so I could buy one and was informed that they do not have that info! How do you not know what size washer you put in your knife?! So I called an online knife parts dealer and they helped me determine the size and actually offered to ship it to me free!! I insisted on paying for it since they went above and beyond to help me.

May I ask who that parts retailer was? Perhaps they can help me with the screws I'm looking for.

Hi OmarShablotnik, and Ericz4253,
Although I don't think our W&R crew has ever said "Hell no"... I understand your frustration. I'll look into the situation and come back with some clarity. As a much smaller company than the others you mentioned, there are some things that we cannot do simply due to a smaller staff, logistics and space. However, we have a longstanding excellent reputation for customer service and given the number of knives produced or improved over the years based upon customer feedback, I'd say we probably listen to our customer base more than most. Please give me a little time to talk to the appropriate people and I'll see what I can find out for both of you. Hang in there with me, I promise we do care.

Ok. In fairness - you are right, the CS didn't use the words "Hell no..." but the frustration you recognize is definitely high.

Hi OmarShablotnik,
I did a little research and found that we do have a limited supply of body/pivot screws for the Domino. We ask that someone who needs either of these, particularly the pivot screw, send their knife in for W&R. We have seen a number of incidences where someone disassembles their Domino (for various reasons) and strips the screw because they attempted to remove it incorrectly. We would prefer to repair the knife and know it is done to our standards than just send a pivot screw. In our experience, if we send a replacement pivot screw, it will end up stripped as well and typically it's due to an error in understanding the assembly of the knife. To be clear - I'm not saying that you are that "person" as I don't know the story behind your stripped pivot or body screws.

We do in fact have records and clear information about what screws are used in each model. Unfortunately, due to counterfeiters, we have had to deem that information proprietary. Spyderco is one of the most counterfeited knives in the market today. I cannot begin to explain the lengths that we, as a small familiy-owned company, have had to go through to protect our customers, our product and our name. We've even testified in front of Congress. We'd prefer to not have to call simple screws proprietary, but our own experiences and research has shown us that it is necessary at this time.

If you'd like to send your Domino in, we'd be happy to put it through the Spyder-Spa and take care of the issues with the screws.

Eric4253,
The information for your situation is virtually the same. We apologize for the inconvenience of receiving a Para Military 2 that was missing a washer out of the box. We have had to institute the same policy of proprietary information for internal parts, particularly with the Para Military 2. Additionally, when something like that does occur (mistakes do happen and our knives are built by humans) we'd like to review the knife and be able to follow up with the specific members of our crew who made the mistake. Finally, since counterfeit Para Military 2 knives have appeared in such mass - selling at or very near the same price of a legitimate Para 2 - we'd like to be sure that what you received is not a counterfeit. I'm not saying we never make a mistake, but those small mistakes are common on the counterfeit knives that we've received from folks thinking they purchased a legitimate Spyderco and sent it in for W&R.

This information may not be ideal and it's probably not what some were hoping for, but it is our reality and we will continue to do our best to conduct our business in a fair, proper and honest way.

Kristi

Kristi thank you for taking the time to respond. I understand your situation. Especially with the counterfeits! My para 2 was bought for a local Spyderco dealer so I'm 99% sure it is real. I was able to find a washer that now works perfectly. So again thank you for your concern. I have no hard feelings towards Spyderco. We are all human!
