So half my Kershaws i haven't been able to switch to tip up.I had 3 sets of cheap torx.Tonight i got a cheap Husky set and guess what i've been able to change my American made Kershaws to tip up but the China made still no  What should i do box them up and send them in or what. Most seemed to come stripped or stripped very easy..Happy to get some to tip up guess it shows the difference between USA made and China made..I love my Value Kershaws i got many but the screws suck.Plus its was my B-day Xmas Eve  I want tip up but i don't have a dremel or many other tools so i can't seem to get the stripped screws out any advice or just live with tip down:confused:

Your first problem is using cheap torx sets. Buy yourself a Wiha brand set.

Depending on how much the screws are stripped, you can fit(or hammer) a larger size torx bit in to remove it.

I agree the knives should be shipped out tip-up. I don't even like options for a tip-down mount since it usually means multiple holes that trap lint and debris right at the pivot.

I've owned a lot of Kershaws, and I still haven't had one that came with screws stripped out of the box...it's likely your tools that are causing all of your problems. Not only are cheap tools machined poorly, the materials are also cheap and you're going to set yourself up for trouble. They have to be made well and to the proper size, otherwise the teeth don't grab and you strip your screw. They put thread lock on the screws, so trying to remove them with a bad set of tools almost guarantees that you'll damage them. The investment in a good set really is worth it, and you'll definitely see that soon after you get one.

Some Kershaws and ZTs do come tip-up, but I can't agree that it should be the only clip position. I carry tip-down whenever possible for a lefty, and if that's not available I'll usually tap my own holes. I'd say that having more choices is always a good thing.

Chris if I was you and didnt really know what I was doing it might be a good idea to box them up and send them in . You dont want to damage them further and then like the other guys said invest in a quality set of tools. I know it sucks to send them off but sometimes its better to let the pro's handle it. Also tell them what position you want the clip installed while its off. Hope that helps
