Hi folks.
I just purchased a Kershaw RJ Tactical 3.0 1987 folder to give to my buddy for his birthday early next week. The pocket clip is so strong that it is even difficult for me to clip it to my own pocket. Does anyone have any ideas to what I might do to make it easier to clip to my pocket?
I do not have enough time to send it back before his birthday and was hoping there might be some ideas out there.
I hope every one understands when I said strong it means that it is very hard to lift the end to clip to the pocket.
Regards
Tar :)

Hi. steelhead do you mean to slide a flat screw driver under the end of the clip and lift?
Also how high should it be lifted up?
Thanks for any help

Anything that works and doesn't scratch it up. Wrap a screwdriver with tissue if you need to.

But yeah... bend it a little, test, bend a little, test. repeat

Why not give it to your friend as is and let him make the decision about the strength of the clip? After all, the clip should be quite snug to prevent it from sliding out of your pocket, etc.. Too loose and he's sure to lose it.

Hi folks
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I think that I will just give it to him and then if he finds it to tight then I can try the other suggestions.
Thanks Ed for the suggestion.

try to loosen the screws for the clip a quarter turn. That's what I do with most cold steel pocket clips.

Yes nearly every clip equipped knife I have ever bought comes with the clip STUPID tight. Spyderco being the exception.
If the handle is metal or very high strength materials, so the screws won't be in danger of being pulled out of their threaded holes, then I like the suggestion of a fellow here who recommended hooking a loop of paracord under the clip and pulling out. Gently the first couple times to get a feel for how much it takes to effect a small change.

If the handle is questionable then remove the clip, wrap with tape and bend in a vise. Which is what I do on almost all of mine. All but one in fact.

Leaving the screws loosened is begging to loose a screw or two. I suppose some come with better loctite than others so it may be possible to win that game here and there.

Some clips just SUCK so bad you have to get a better / longer clip.
