Hi Jim. You got somethin' special. It's the ultimate CoPilot; light strong, relatively scratch free. Just too expensive to keep makin', so we dropped em'.

Tuffram is the coating (dark gray in this case) that covers the aluminum handles. If it was not there, they would be more metallic looking and scratch very easily.

Sal,
You missed me & Bram for breakfast at the Guild last year,
you all had lunch & I missed out! Will look for you this year! MY niece & nephew thought it was fantastic that the head of Spyderco took the time to show them some new protos. Maybe we can have some breakfast this yr!Think I'll keep this Co-pilot!

It was numbered C09SATU and was discontinued in 1995 according to my record. IT sold retail @ 82.95 and maybe @ 93.95 when discontinued. I'm a little fuzzy regards the pricing.

You definetly have a nice find.

John,
Got it for $40, so I'm real happy, resides in my pocket as a money clip, just making sure change is in the other pocket! I really didn't know what it was when I bought it,just knew it was a Spydie!

After reading this thread, I think this shop still had one about two weeks ago, he may still have it..... It was a gray coated Co-Pilot with slits in the handle. He had it priced in the $25-$30 range. He is closing business and trying to get rid of the stock he has on hand. I would jump on it myself, but it is a little too small for my hand, that and I have bought too many knives here lately.
