Can one still get a Spyerco light weight clipit with a point down clip?

All the ones I have seen are tip up... We don't like tip up over here...

Ogre- all of the lightweight models that Spyderco manufactures come in the tip-up carry position. The closest thing you will find in a lightweight model is the C26 Snap-It with the D-ring in the pivot area .... well, it does carry tip down. Sorry!

P.S. When the Calypso, Jr. comes out in a lightweight version, it will be the first tip down lightweight Clipit.

Raf,

That really is an interesting snippet of information (Calypso lightweight). I had assumed it would have the same butt-mounted clip as all the current lightweights. How does the clip attach to the handle? I am assuming it is metal and not moulded. Certainly makes the new Calypso even more interesting.

Raf - When Sal posted on the lightweight Calypso a couple of weeks ago he said the clip would be reversable like the 98 series knives.

Is this still going to be the case if it is a tip down clip?

The answer is very important to me being a left hander.

Live Long & Prosper, so you can buy more knives :)

Actually, folks, there is at least one lightweight Spyderco with a clip mounted for tip-down carry. You wanna take a wild guess? (This would have been a good question for Danelle's trivia contest.)

It's the Cricket.

Good call on the Cricket. Man, and I thought I went through all the lightweights in my head before posting. ...so many knives.
I'm not exactly sure how the reversible clip will attatch to the lightweight Calypso, Jr. so that it rides tip down. That is a question for Sal when he gets back. I'm sure it will be something pretty interesting.

Is the Military not considered a lightweight? It has the tip down carry.

Harvey - tip down and left/right. Metal clip screws into metal posts built into plastic handle. Had to do a lot of testing before we came up with a clip fastening method that we believed would be strong enough. Thought that some ELU might prefer at least one model like this. Will have a sample at Blade Show. Production in August.
