Why is it that the clips I've seen all are tip down carry? I like tip up carry 'cus it's easiar to draw. Anyone know?

For anything but a liner-lock I like tip-up. I haven't seen a liner-lock that I felt was secure enough to trust not to come partially open in my pocket. I find that tip-up is easier to put into action. As to why the factories choose one over the other is beyond me. Some have similar models with different clip positions. Just my 2 cents.

I prefer tip up carry if I'm carrying it in my back pocket which is 99% of the time. But I think most people carry some other way that makes tip down equally if not more convenient. Its all personal preferance I guess. And there is the safety issue with liner locks. And since a large portion of the "Tactical" knife category which is the main group to have clips are liner locks, I guess that could be an explanation.
Seems kind of odd though when you consider tha higher degree of difficulty in attaching a clip at the pivot end where theres more things to work around. You'd think just about any lockback would be tip up, that way as long aas your working around the backspring you can put the screws as far into the handle as you want.

It'll feel better when it stops hurting.

I thought the same thing about tip-up for lockbacks. Then I was carrying my Endura in a cargo pocket in my pants. I jumped over a fence and the thing flew open and jabbed 1/2 to a whole inch into my thigh. Needless to say, that hurt and bled quite a bit. Lesson: If you carry a knife tip-up, at least don't do it in a large cargo pocket where there's plenty of room for it to open.
