I don't know if this was made with an upper edge (it's sharp)or modified when it got uglified with this dreadful metal grip, but it's an interesting and well made blade. The good news is the grip slides off easily as the laha either never was set properly or it dried up. This would be a knife worth restoring with a well designed grip, scabbard and maybe a cliptip karda.

That knife is just sick, sick and wrong.;):p

Me likee!:D

I like the patina on that blade, it really adds character. Cool stuff John, thanks for sharing.

Igor wants to say something;

"You! You got my knife?
Want knife back!
Now!
Hungry! Need to cut up ducks for dinner!"

I like it. Someone took the time to repair an otherwise good blade. I would re-laha the handle securely and run with it. Great piece.... Thanks for not keeping it to yourself.

Rather than a kukri that should "never have been" I'd say a GRIP that should never have been. At least the very well made blade has a classic profile and once regripped will be an excellent kukri

This is a case where I will attempt to bring new life to an antique. My reasoning is it came to me totally ruined, no scabbard and an obviously replaced grip. Normally it would be total blasphemy to rework an antique. It would be very interesting to turn a kukri like this over to Terry and let him apply his great skills to bare.

This cliptip would put this in a different category as a fighter. It would be a better thruster and could incorporate a backswing with that upper edge.

I agree that you should generally leave an antique alone, but since its already been butchered, I think a new handle(preferably a nice oiled wood(well, at least for my taste), plus a sheath from Terry would bring this back to a new life, and help make up for what previous owner did. Won't be the same antique, but will end up a beautiful blade nonetheless.
