Has anyone ever used or owned one of these? I see them all over Bladeauction for very little $$ but I am inclined to think that you get what you pay for. Someone in another thread said the Halo 3 Clones might actually be better than a real Paragon ATKO 10 OTF. Somehow I doubt it. What are your thoughts on this issue?

When you buy a clone, no reputable company is standing behind the materials, the heat treat, or the tolerances to which the knife is assembled. When it turns out to be a POS that won't hold an edge, or snaps off cutting twine, what can you say?

You might get one good enough for a beater, but why bother? There are legit companies that sell cheap knives that have at least some chance of performing reliably.

I believe it was I that said that. IMO (and yes, it is an opinion and I do not expect anyone to agree with me) these are very nice clones of the original Microtech HALO and the snap/lockup rivals the Paragon ATKO 10 OTF. I have both and firing side by side I can see that the HALO clone is much faster. Fit and finish on the HALO is ok (the ATKO 10 wins this one). Blade steel is certainly better on the ATKO 10.

I stated this only to offer a comparison for someone who may have one and not the other. I don't expect you to take my word for it: try them out for yourself. They are cheap enough that you won't kick yourself if you are not happy with them, however IMO (opinion again) you will be very impressed with the bang for the buck.

I have also heard the LCC clones are excellent for the price, however I have not been able to handle one myself.

All of the "clones/copies" of auto folders I've seen are cheaply made ripoffs, which are sold to inexperienced buyers who think they look cool. If you visit your local flea market/swap meet you'll see what I'm talking about.

The way I see it, these "Clones" might be worth the money for a beater knife; something that you won't be afraid to use or lose. That's about it. I've heard bad things about locks on "clones" failing, so I'm hesitant to buy in.

Fossil: Don't take this thread as me trying to discredit you in any way. I just wanted to get other peoples' opinions on this issue.
