At work today my Seb managed to get ripped out of my pocket. I think it may have been something on the ride on mower that snagged it and ripped it out of my pocket. Luckily it fell out near the truck (probably when I was unloading grass) and my boss found it. My seb is safe in my pocket with a little scar from the fall by the pocket clip. Nothing major but a good memory of the time I almost lost my first seb!

My heart sank when I noticed it wasnt in my pocket. Next I checked the truck and it was on my seat--such a relief. This sebenza is already like an old friend:)

Just a friendly reminder for those that use their knives at work to check your knives regularly:)

If you are out moving around and doing physical work, the belt pouch is a real good idea.

maybe, but then I find the knife much too annoying. Loss is just a risk im willing to take. I have done this type of work for about 3 years and never lost a knife--I think it was just bad luck (or good luck cause I found it).

I think id switch to a different knife before a belt sheath--i just fid they get in the way too much with movment, bending over, sitting etc. I have tried them several times but I always fid they have one spot which is just not comfortable

Perhaps a lanyard with a clip for a beltloop so you can get to it easily. I've lost a couple of really nice knives and it still hurts years later!

That's why I hate clips.... I lost a brand new Spyderco years ago.... it was a $150 knife and at the time... that was HUGE $ to me! I take the clips off any folders I get. Icky..... just bad bad bad in my mind! For my Lg Sebenza, I used the sewing machine and sewed off a section of my Levi pocket for only the knife. It holds the sebenze straight up... not off at an angle as happens when using no clip. It works perfect. I dont have one right now, but need to get another and do the same pocket/sew trick... it was great.

I was issuing kit all day yesterday, cutting open lots of boxes with the Mnandi, dealing with questions from staff getting their gear, keeping on top of the paperwork, then er where is my knife ?? Lots of places for it to be . I was rushing around hunting for it , telling guys I'll be with them shortly, but no sign of the Mnandi. Blast! Wait a minute. found it , tucked away in my pocket . Very much a Bulldog Briscoe moment from 'Frazier' if anyone recalls the character.
Made me chuckle once I found my trusty Mnandi.

Is this like me looking all over the place for my sunglasses, only to have my kids point out that I'm holding them in my hand?

:D

I was once inside of a ball park- you know, like the ones kids play in at McDonalds, playing with and keeping an eye for my six year old daughter. I leaned back against the netting and when I moved forward, the netting lifted my Sebenza out of my back pocket by its pocket clip.

I discovered that my Sebbie was missing 20 minutes after leaving the kids ball park. First I had that sinking pit of the stomach feeling when you lose something very dear to you, followed by ten seconds of hyperventilation. I backtracked my route and came back to the ball park, luckily enough to find my Sebbie still clipped to the ball park netting from the inside, and waiting for my return.

That's why I always try to clip my folders IWB now.

+1 for this. I dummy cord my Ritter Grip if I am working outside, hiking or around water. Simple, unobtrusive and effective. 0.25 lanyard vs. $400 knife? That's a no-brainer:D

Sorry to ask this question...but what does IWB mean?

i wear a schrade 340T pocket knife IN MY POCKET. main reason , is i'm prone to lose clip, belt knives ( buck 110 ). over 20 yrs and still p.o.'ed about it.:grumpy:

I set mine down the other day after cutting boxes by a dumpster, came back about 2 hours later and WHEW! Still there! I was really lucky because it was a Saturday and homeless people were all around the thing but nobody noticed it. I guess they were looking for cans and bottles in there instead of knives. It was sitting on the side of the dumpster where the trucks arms pick it up. Always put it back in your pocket instead of setting it down.

sucks so much to lose something that you love, but it is a risk I have to take if i want to use it. I just don't like long lanyards or belt sheaths. If I lose her, it will be sad, but at least she got used well:)

Lost my small reg on Mon. after carrying it for a year and a half daily...so bummed. I have other knives...none of them are even close to the seb. I am going to look for another small reg. Money is tight now, but the seb is the only folder I care to carry.

A while back I lost my Sebbie. I drove back to my friends house. I looked in the street and sure enough there it was behind my right front tire next to the curb.
I had ran over it without noticing. Probably a couple of times. I picked it up, brushed it off, and it was fine. My friends that carry cheap chinese knives were shocked.
Within the last month my sebbie has tried several escape attempts. Luckily I heard it hit the ground each time and picked it up.
Lately I have given the sebbie lots of stuff to cut to it has rewarding me by being good and staying in my pocket.

sorry to hear that bro, that really sucks=(

I'd buy a new one if I could fine one...I really like the regular.
May have to get a classic 21...
