Is there a way for the OP to close his thread when he feels no further comment is beneficial, or is that action reserved for mods?

You click the little triangle on the left side (Report Post) and file the request to close.

If I understand you correctly, you can ask for it to be closed, but you don't actually close it yourself.

Gold and Platinum members have an Administrative button on threads they start that will allow them to close it themselves. I don't know how far down this extends, but I don't think Registered Users have that privilege.

Ah, ok, I was wondering if it was paid member thing.

Wonder if that applies to Basic also?
