Here is a question I can never remember ever being touched down on:
Is the rocker bar, spacer, and spring made from the same steel as what the knife is bladed with?

I assume the springs are cut from round bar stock. If this is indeed the case, what steel is it?

Is the rocker bar and spacer the same steel as the blade? In other words, during the 440C years, are they made/blanked from 440C? And so on with the 425M years and the current 420HC years.

Are all of these parts made in-house at Buck, or are they outsourced?

I'm kinda interested too so I pop this up to the top again.

Yes, I'd like an authoritative answer to this one, too. Interesting question.

The Blade is 420HC, The rocker is 410 HC. The butt spacer (spring holder) is made out of 316SS. The spring itself is 302SS

Hope this helps.

jeff are these steel types the current types or
were they used alll along or
what different steel used at some other time ?

This is the current materials. I am not sure of the history of the non-blade parts.

I sent in the second squad for this one- he needs the practice. Just kidding; Jeff does a great job.
