Yes very much so! Don't do it!

Jk just keep some oil on the blade and you will be fine

If you are going to force a patina on the steel then there should be minimal worries. I would keep a thin layer of oil on there if you are worried about it. I dont and have yet to have rust problems.

I've heard good things about Tuf Cloths. Others have too, like from me, who posted about them minutes ago on another thread :-)

Is KY pretty dry.

As long as you keep your blades dry and clean you should have no problem.

Some recommend oil, I don't. Oil has water in it and it will brake down if stored for long periods of time.
which will cause rust....

It's very humid in KY, almost all year.

Rust isn't one of those things that will happen immediately after it touches water. Most of the time all you have to do it wipe them down and never worry. I oil mine once per month and that's a little excessive.

Use a silicon impregnated rag for guns. It removes the oils from your fingers and helps inhibit rust.

As for KY, it's always been wet. :D

Eh, I strip most of my blades when I get them. Its just a thing I do.

As far as rust, my current BK2 has been stripped for about 2yrs, I did force a patina ,but that wore off long ago. I keep mine wiped down with Ballistol about once a month, and its never seen much in the way of rust.

Which kinda sucks, as, if you do get some rust, and wipe it down with oil, it turns a dark grey or black. Which is what I want.

Here she is, one of the most recent pics I have of her.

Don't get me wrong, there has been some rust, but I really don't worry about rust on my knife, no more than a suntan on my skin. If you spend time outdoors, you get both.

No pecker for Becker.

Could also blue the blades too. But I'm not certain about food prep though.
